Meet the Woman CEO Who Led a 20-Year-Old Company to Record Growth in Less Than a Year

When Minou Clark stepped into the CEO role at RealSelf, she did not walk into a startup honeymoon phase. She inherited a 20-year-old company with history, habits, and hidden friction.

Most leaders in that position start with restructuring plans or revenue targets. Clark started with conversations. Within one year, the shift was visible, not just culturally, but in momentum and performance.

Listening was her first lever for growth.

In her first months, Clark met with 150 employees individually. She asked about their fears, frustrations, ambitions, and where they believed the company had stalled.

According to McKinsey research on organizational health, companies with strong organizational alignment significantly outperform peers in long-term value creation. Culture is infrastructure.

Clark rebuilt that infrastructure deliberately. She clarified core values, implemented new operating rhythms, and reinforced accountability at every level, including her own. Silos that had calcified over time began to dissolve.

Engagement followed clarity, and clarity accelerated execution.

Gallup research shows that highly engaged teams experience 23 percent higher profitability. Clark treated engagement as a performance driver, not a morale booster.
